Netflix And Relax With The Pricing Speculation: Streamer Rejects $7–$9 Ad-Funded Plan!

Regarding the cost and specifics of its impending ad-supported service, streaming juggernaut Netflix Inc NFLX+ Free Alerts has remained cloak and dagger. Recent assertions of pricing predictions by Bloomberg were denied by the corporation.

What happened:

Netflix denied that the new streaming tier will cost $7 to $9 per month. The plan's pricing is still being discussed internally, according to the business, and will be implemented in some areas by the end of 2022.

"We have not yet made any decisions regarding how to introduce a cheaper, ad-supported tier because it is so early in the process.

Therefore, all of this is merely conjecture at this time "The New York Post was told by a Netflix representative.

What Makes It Important

On December 8, 2022, Disney is scheduled to unveil its ad-supported streaming service. The new plan will cost $7.99 per month instead of the basic Disney+ plan's previous monthly price of $10.99, which will increase by 38%.

Disney had 152.1 million Disney+ subscribers at the end of the most recent quarter, and it had 221 million total streaming users when Hulu and ESPN+ are included. The corporation will emphasise bundling the various streaming platforms in its new price schemes.

Depending on the number of people sharing the same account, Netflix charges a monthly fee ranging from $9.99 to $19.99. The most popular plan has a monthly price of $15.49. Earlier this year, the streaming juggernaut increased the cost of its basic package from $13.99 to $15.49 per month.

220.67 million people were Netflix subscribers at the conclusion of the second quarter. The first quarter of 2022 saw the company experience its first subscriber loss on a year-over-year basis in more than ten years. The company lost subscribers in each of the previous two reported quarters.

According to a Bloomberg article, Netflix aims to stream four minutes of adverts each hour, with no commercials during kids' shows or Netflix original movies. On its advertising network, Netflix has a partnership with Microsoft Corporation MSFT+ Free Alerts.

While addressing the Cannes Lions Festival, Ted Sarandos, the CEO of Netflix, confirmed a prior rumour that an ad-supported plan would be arriving in 2022.

According to reports, Sarandos said: "We've left a significant customer segment off the table, which is folks who say: Hey, Netflix is too expensive for me and I don't mind advertising."
"We're not adding commercials to Netflix as you know it now; we're just adding an ad tier."

Expectations may be high for Netflix's ad-supported strategy, which might increase its subscriber base and advertising revenue.
The cost of plans is still a crucial factor to monitor in the fiercely competitive streaming market.

NFLX Price Movement Monday's closing price for Netflix shares was $224.57, up 0.58 percent. Shares trading after hours were down 0.0089 percent at $224.55.
