What is the current state of negotiations?
Iran has indicated a willingness to negotiate on all issues.
Iran has insisted that the talks should not be referred to as nuclear talks because the main goal is to lift sanctions. As a result, the Iranian delegation is made up of legal and banking officials.
What policies does Iran implement?
During the suspension of the JCPOA, Iran increased its stockpile of 60% enriched uranium. This was done to demonstrate that if the US withdraws from the agreement again, Iran will almost certainly expand its nuclear programme.
Iran is linking its economy to the JCPOA negotiations and prioritising economic diplomacy with Asia to ensure that any U.S. backtracking does not economically shock Iran. Iran's diplomatic outreach to Gulf neighbours, including the UAE, is continuing. Furthermore, Iran has separated the JCPOA negotiations from its ballistic missile programmes, claiming that they are separate issues that will only be addressed by regional partners.
