German-Watch, in collaboration with Climate Action Network (CAN) and New Climate Institute, publishes "Climate Change Performance Index 2022" on November 10.
The report was released on behalf of COP26 to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
CCPI 2022 found that major emitting economies, which announced their net zero emission release targets, performed poorly in the climate change performance in 2021.

- India has maintained its 10th position in this index.
- India remains one of the top performers in the G20.
World View:
According to the report, the United States ranks 55th out of 66 countries with very low ratings.
China has slipped four places in the 2020 rankings. Currently ranked 37th.
The EU is ranked 22nd, six places below the 2020 rankings. It has been given a 'moderate' rating.
The UK is in seventh place.
Denmark tops the list with 76.92 percentage points.
Denmark is followed by Sweden and Norway.
What is the Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI)?
CCPI is an independent monitoring tool that plays a leading role in providing information on the implementation phase of the Paris Agreement. It has provided analysis of countries' climate protection operations since 2005. The index evaluates 60 countries and the European Union, which produces about 90% of global greenhouse gas emissions. It analyzes countries in four categories with 14 indicators:
- Greenhouse gas emissions (40% of total score)
- Renewable energy (20%)
- Energy use (20%)
- Climate policy (20%)
