1904 - Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, the second Prime Minister of India, was born.

1924 - Tapan Sinha - Famous film director.

1933 - Shankar Shesh - was a famous Hindi playwright and cinematographer.

1942 - Asha Parekh - Famous film actress.

1974 - Pritam Rani Siwach - Former captain of the Indian women's hockey team.

1979 - Hangpan Dada - was a brave soldier of the Indian Army, awarded 'Ashok Chakra'.

1982 - CD Deshmukh - ICS under British rule Officer and the third Finance Minister of India after independence.

2014 - N. Mahalingam - Awarded Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in the field of industry and trade. Mahalingam was from Tamil Nadu. He died after a long illness.
