(Does preparation by UPSC assist with any other examinations? ) |
Hi Students,
I have share my experience with you, I think it will help you a lot. If after reading this my experience you have to get a lot of knowledge about how to prepare for which exam.
With the preparation for my UPSC, I sat in several exams. So, I can tell you about my experience.
I passed the tests that had a curriculum overlap with the UPSC CSE or needed simply quantitative aptitude and English.
Details about the tests I took and how UPSC knowledge benefited me:
UPSC CAPF AC: Qualified, follows the same syllabus as UPSC CSE. It is an excellent backup for CSE candidates.
SBI PO/IBPS PO: Qualified, but no assistance from UPSC Preparation. Because of my command of the English language, I have always cruised through bank tests. In each of these tests, I received a score of 27–28 out of 30 in English. In prelims, I lacked the speed and preparation necessary for Quant. However, in the mains, I used to do well in Quant since speed was not a problem.
SSC CGL 2017: Qualified, UPSC syllabus aided my performance in GK in Tier-1. Rest, I don't believe I benefited anyplace else. I got approximately 160 in Tier 1 and 310 in Tier 2. (This brings the total to about 470/600.) 180 points in English; 130 points in Math.
CAT 2018: After the UPSC mains, I had nothing to do. So, it was written in CAT. Surprisingly, UPSC prep benefited me in the Verbal and RC sections. Because of the extensive reading I had done for UPSC, the comprehension sections did not appear to be completely new. In fact, there was a paragraph on Cussini-Huygens that appeared to be quite similar to one I studied during my mains preparation. UPSC preparation has almost little significance in the QA and DILR portions. My score was in the 97th percentile. Obviously, I did not receive a call from IIM ABC.
UPSC Preparation Provided Significant Assistance for the AFCAT. Scores of 240 or higher were always the norm.
The RBI, SEBI, and NIACL all failed. I failed all tests that required particular preparation, such as RBI Grade B and SEBI Grade A. Though UPSC preparation can assist in the GK portion in the first stage, the curriculum in the second stage is different and tough to master without preparation.
Note: It is important to note that you should not prepare for numerous examinations.
UPSC CSE requires focused attention for at least two years.
Good luck.
